British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday told those in the U.K. House of Commons that the actions taken by Russian President Vladimir Putin towards Ukraine already qualified as a "war crime," after being asked if the government would support the International Criminal Court in prosecuting Putin's actions.

"What we have seen already from Vladimir Putin's regime in the use of the munitions that they have already been dropping on innocent civilians, Mr. Speaker, in my view already fully qualifies as a war crime and I know that the ICC prosecutor is already investigating and I am sure the whole House will support that," Johnson said. He made the comments into a request by Scottish National Party Westminster group leader to sit down with him and talk about the ICC and amending the U.K. War Crimes Act.

The House of Commons also rose in applause that day after Speaker Lindsay Hoyle recognized Ukraine's ambassador to the U.K. Vadym Prystaiko, who was watching proceedings from the public gallery.
